We are a community of individuals who each bring a unique background to the table, and here at GTHU, we love connecting and learning from one another.

Share a bit about who you are and what brought you here. Are you a Mental Health Ministry leader? Have you completed any educational training, like Empower Faith Communities or Mental Health Coach Training?

Does your organization already have a Mental Health Ministry, or are you looking to launch one? We’d love to hear your story and your goals—let’s grow together!

I’m Jessica and my first introduction to Gateway to Hope trainings was Empower Faith Communities. I would love to start a Mental Health Ministry within my church but have no idea where to begin.

After personal experience with Mental Health issues I just want to give back in anyway I can.

Thanks! I can’t wait to meet everyone today.

    Good morning,

I’m an RN with 22 + years of experience, but have always felt led to be a coach. I’m currently taking the Mental Health Coach curriculum and previously completed the Empower Faith Communities training. I’m looking to launch a Mental Health Ministry. Thanks for the opportunity!

Nice to meet you Robert! Thank you for your work as a RN and a first responder. I am glad to hear you have started your journey as a Mental Health Coach in preparation of today’s MHM Master Class. In my time as a Mental Health Coach, I have found it very rewarding helping others and walking along side their mental health journey. I hope you find today’s course informative and helpful as you start your Mental Health Ministry.

Hi there, I am Shelby Lynn Tate. I am eager to launch a mental health ministry at my church now that I have finished the Mental Health Coaching Certificate program. People have preconceived notions, unfavorable attitudes, and preconceptions about people with mental health issues. and I desire to help support people who are struggling with mental health issues and educate others about this.

Hello Shelby! Thank you for your heart and passion for launching a Mental Health Ministry within your faith community. We know that 70% of individuals struggling with mental health distress often turn to a clergy or faith community. Your faithfulness will have a lasting impact in your community and those you serve. We look forward to hearing your journey and success stories along the way.

My name is Kirk. I am the fatherhood program coordinator at a pregnancy resource center. Some say “pro-life” while I prefer “pro-abundant life”. John 10:10. In my encounters with men who come into our center I see the need to recognize and refer when someone is challenged not just with the question of life but with all the circumstances that surround their lives. These are typically what gets them into a stressful situation to start with. I have about 150 hours completed with MHM and AACC where Dr. Stanford was previously affiliated. I look forward to putting into practice what I am learning.
