One in four people experience a mental health disorder at some point in their life. As many as 70% of U.S. adults experience at least one traumatic event during their lifetime. Despite how common trauma and mental health challenges are, many people don’t get professional help and don’t feel comfortable sharing their distress with colleagues. The Mental Health Champion acts as a role model within the workplace to help end the stigma associated with these challenges, support colleagues in distress, and promote mental health and well-being throughout the workplace. You will also learn to properly uphold ethics and confidentiality, and understand confidentiality limits in this role.
In this 8-hour course, you’ll learn how to recognize the signs that a colleague is struggling, and acquire the tools needed to support them. You’ll also learn to create a workplace that supports mental health and gain the expertise to teach the skills colleagues can use to reduce stress and anxiety, manage emotions, build positive communication, resolve conflicts, and practice self care–all of which boost mental health and well-being across the organization.
